Archives For murder

Here’s another way of looking at it: Instead of asking why so many mass shooters are white, we could ask what it is about mass shootings that differentiates them, even to a small extent, from the broader trend of racial inequalities in murder rates. Why might the huge disparities that we see in homicides, born of systematic disadvantage, be diminished (though not reversed) in our most extreme episodes of violence?

The USA Today data set Lankford relied on differed from the Mother Jones collection in key ways. Most significantly, Mother Jones defined “mass shootings” as only those that took place in public settings. USA Today went with a broader definition of “mass killings,” including any with four or more victims. Public massacres like the one in Las Vegas represent just one-sixth of this larger data set. (The Mother Jones data doesn’t include, for instance, killings that unfold in a private home with members of the killer’s family as the victims.) With that said, Lankford found that the USA Today data showed there was no difference between the whiteness of mass murderers and of murderers overall. (Whites made up 37.9 percent and 36.5 percent of those groups, respectively.) Black Americans committed a slightly lower percentage of mass murders than other murders, and those described as Asian committed a somewhat higher percentage of mass murders. Taken as a whole, he concluded that there is “a clear discrepancy between the popular assumptions about mass murderers in the United States and the evidence-based reality.”

I originally wasn’t going to comment on the Charleston shooting but seeing the purveying reactions on Tumblr and Twitter left me with no resort. It comes as no surprise that those entrenched in their ideologies are already spreading false information and spinning narratives. Its times like these where you can see the underlying stupidity and repulsive nature of the general populace. People know that racism is a problem yet are continuing to perpetuate a climate where racism can’t be discussed in a constructive and equitable fashion. Instead of any progress being made we are essentially stuck in the same rut with one side apprehensive to discuss due to “guilt” while the other feels they are not capable of being racist at all. Furthermore we are now subject to the tireless amount of politicized opinions of people who wish to capitalize on the murders. And of course we can also look forward to the pointless array of bills brought forth in order to make the populace feel better emotionally. However, these hardly ever amount to anything but more conceded control i.e. government surveillance programs, gun controls, etc. But yes go ahead and focus your outrage on trivial things like a flag even though a couple days ago nobody cared about such things at all. Lets guarantee that nothing will be accomplished but widening the schism in America.

I compiled this list mainly due to vast amount of misinterpreting of scripture in particular old testament laws. There is nothing more cringe worthy then someone who learns something but lacks understanding. It appears many are unable to comprehend what is moral law, ceremonial law, and civic law as well as the establishment of the new covenant. So I will only post new testament laws this time. I typically use the Latin Vulgate Bible in my own reading but I will use a more modern translation the English Standard Version.

1 Corinthians 6:18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;

Matthew 5:28But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Hebrews 13:4Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Colossians 3:5Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

Galatians 5:19Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,

Mark 7:20-23: And He [Jesus] said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Jude 1:7Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.

1 Timothy 1:9-10: Understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,

I implore you to not just take my own word for it but to research these passages yourself. Its good to go read the context in order to get a full understanding of their meaning. Remember these are not condemning people rather their behavior. All people are capable of asking for God’s forgiveness and God will forgive all who come before him with true contrition.
