Its funny that these people jumping on the climate change bandwagon are declaring the debate over, yet they refused for the past decade to debate the issue. So until they actually have debate of the issue and quit labeling everyone who isn’t freaking out about the quintupled population of the polar bears as deniers I simply cannot trust their motives. Its one thing to wish for people to be environmentally more responsible. I don’t believe anyone will oppose doing his or her own bit for the planet. However what people do object to is this attempt to bring about detrimental changes such as Carbon taxes or Carbon currency which is essentially just attempts to give more control to scientists over fiscal policy. People get upset about the debate of climate change but it must take place if we are going to spend these billions of dollars in government grants (your own money). There’s an uneasy amount of thinkspeak and collusion amongst scientists when it comes to these issues on climate change.

More empty promises and politicians showing their lack of economic knowledge on display last night. They basically are trying to force the standard of living up with wealth redistribution. They don’t however take into account where this extra money is going to come from. Its not like the government makes any money on its own so its coming from your own pockets. Or from another loan to China.

It seems the argument is that lots of things cause inflation, so who cares if we raise the minimum wage? The point is that if raising the minimum wage increases inflation then the newly found buying power is eroded and if the solution is to have regular hikes in the minimum wage then basically we are feeding an inflation fire.

Here we are in the United States pretending to know what we are doing meanwhile nations like Norway, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, etc. don’t even have a national minimum wage.

Furthermore I encourage you to look at the correlation between the unemployment rates of states and states with the highest minimum wages. Most of the states with the highest unemployment rates have minimum wages well beyond the current nationally mandated wage of $7.25.

MILLER: Harvey Weinstein and Meryl Streep making movie attacking NRA

It was mediocre. If you wish to not read a negative review I suggest you read no further. I will only speak on the adaption to film briefly as I wish to judge the movie of itself. I thought Peter Jackson did a fairly decent job of portraying the small details from the book. Enough so to give a decent book to movie portrayal anyway. Beorn had far too little screen time. Overall there was way too much Dwarf screen time throughout the film and very little of Bilbo. The silly contrived pseudo-romance between the elf and dwarf was unnecessary and added nothing but more “drama” to the film. Certain deviations from the story were pointless such as the splitting of the company at Lake-town and the near death of Kili. The dragon was pretty well done and didn’t come off as too unrealistic. The scenes where the dwarfs are running/fighting Smaug are acceptable changes as simply doing as the book foretold wouldn’t be as exciting for the audience. The overall feeling is that nothing was accomplished though in the end. They reach the mountain and awaken the dragon with little happenings along the way. All the major events were saved for the 3rd film. The closing song was not very pleasing to the ears. Although quite slow at the start and also not accomplishing much, An Unexpected Journey was far better. The music of course was excellent.

If I had a dollar for every time I saw the ridiculous perpetuated myth that you ought to do what makes you happy or you shouldn’t worry about what someone else is doing since it doesn’t directly effect you, I would be a millionaire. Where did modern society come up with this rubbish argument for their acceptance of everything (everything they want anyway)? Anyone who states this as a reason they ought to be allowed to do away with morality or societal structures can’t be taken seriously. Its like G.K. Chesterton eloquently states, “To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it.”

I’m no fan of Duck Dynasty as I find their lifestyle and accents to be very unappealing. But reading the news concerning their family head Phil Robertson has me rolling my eyes yet again at what this nation is coming to. This isn’t even about free speech and the ability to express opinions. This goes much deeper as it wasn’t so much his having an opinion that was called into question but that it wasn’t the right opinion or more “progressive” opinion. Phil basically called out homosexuality as a sin and said he didn’t understand why men or women would respond sexually to someone the same gender as them. Hardly the “vilest and most extreme statements uttered against LGBT people in a mainstream publication” as stated by the gay organization GLAAD. You would think by the extreme outrage of these gay groups that he said gays ought to be rounded up and branded or something of that nature. GLAAD spokesman Wilson Cruz stated, “He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans – who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples.” Clearly Cruz doesn’t realize that most Americans aren’t in favor of accepting these mutual masturbaters’  behavior as normal in society. Hints why all legislation must be dealt with by the courts system and not through the legislative bodies. Why do they do this? Because they know they won’t convince the 96% of normal US citizens to accept it even in the most “progressive” of places such as California. This is why you won’t see any voting on the issue. Why can’t the courts in the United States get this  concept but the government of India can?

While its true as Christians we ought to be loving to all mankind and bringing them to Christ, Christianity has no gray areas. A sin is a sin and there is no changing these facts which was all Phil was essentially stating. Calling a spade a spade. Some people would rather change the truth than accept it.

There is a reason this is the number 1 rated cable show and its not because they break off of traditional values and do whats hip or trendy.

Watched the World Cup 2014 Draw yesterday. Lots of exciting and tough groups this go around in comparison to the 2010 edition. Korea received a very favorable group containing Belgium, Russia, and Algeria. The US on the other hand must have upset the football gods somehow.

I’m sorry but I simply cannot take people seriously who hold any neo position when it comes to ideologies. Sure you are able to possess the paraphernalia and read the creeds of the particular ideology you adhere to. But are you not still maintaining the void that only actual practice of said ideology can fulfill? This seems to be a common trait among the followers of obliterated ideologies such as communism and national socialism who are only able to rummage through the remains of a glorious past that’s now defunct.

I’ve been watching the History Channel documentary series Vietnam in HD. It really saddens me when I see the behavior of the media coverage of this war and its effects on the general public. I can’t think of another war where public perception caused the eventual loss of the conflict as opposed to the actual ground fighting. Its embarrassing.

Recently finished re-watching Band of Brothers and The Pacific mini series. What I enjoy about these series versus Hollywood propaganda war films is the realism and the open ended message being conveyed. They focus more on the unit and individual soldiering experience rather than try to hammer home their geo-political stances of “all conflict is futile” and “there are no causes worth fighting/dying for.” Due to over-saturation I have not read much about the World War II era in quite some time, but I plan to do so soon. I acquired many fascinating books in particularly concerning Nazi Germany and of course Hitler. I should be clear up front that I in no way agree with the social darwinistic aspects of the movement nor do I agree with many of the later military strategies being employed. But anytime you have elements of fervent nationalism it is interesting to study. After all, how can you defiantly state someone like Hitler is evil unless you read Mein Kampf for yourself? Remember that all things outside of religion aren’t so black and white.
