I would say this is accurate. While I certainly enjoy learning various languages I often do so for my own pleasure rather than for intelligence points. It is rather flustering to be in situations where language learning isn’t adequate to the task. But of course this only serves as more motivation to hit the books with more gusto.

This appears to be the sanest take on the latest Trump debacle. I think its best to reserve judgement until further information is unveiled. Neither Trump or the media have proven themselves to be trustworthy.

James 1:22-27
BE ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Iacobus 1:22-27

“Will you deny all ungodliness and worldly lusts, and live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; that you may show yourself in all things an example of good works unto others, that the adversary may be ashamed, having nothing to say against you?”
I agree with Hitchens interpretation of great men’s deeds. I think its incredibly foolish to expect for someone to be perfect when we know full well that all men have fallen short in their own way. This is one of the reasons why I admire different things various individuals have done but would never ignore their temptations as well. Nobody is perfect. The article on Mr. Bell was quite interesting and makes me want to learn more about this intelligent and culturally vibrant individual. I agree also that the Anglican church and Episcopalian one are in this day in age laughable because they are content to ascribe to the world’s standards and not God’s.

Reductio ad absurdum. I think this article does an excellent job at summing up New Atheist arguments and why they don’t hold up well in defense of their positions. It does often appear that New Atheists are of the absurd belief that ceasing religion entirely will not bring about any possible negative consequences. Or at least they are not compelled to ponder such possibilities. I will have to do some reading up on A.C. Grayling.

“Socially and morally conservative opinions are treated as phobias and heresies.” This appears to not only be an English phenomena as it is prevalent across all Western countries. “Sorry, but the market just isn’t a substitute for morality and human decency.” I concur with this sentiment.
Lauren Southern an omnipresent right leaning journalist activist was recently caught doing some questionable activities off the coast of Italy. Southern along with other vigilante groups from Europe appear to be taking the law into their own hands by attempting to interfere with boats entering and leaving Italy. To me this is crossing a line which ought not to be crossed. First and foremost its extremely dangerous to be going around aggressively trying to impede boats passage and endangers the lives of those on both vessels. Secondly this to me equates to the vigilante Greenpeace activists who sail down and attempt to disrupt the Japanese whaling operation. Its extremely dangerous and when met with violent action the natural response is to return with violence which eventually causes the situation to escalate. I don’t wish to see some dangerous acts occur which dissuades the public from empathizing with the positions of right leaning groups over something entirely preventable. I feel that Southern would be doing infinitely more good if she were to produce a hard hitting documentary in Italian which chronicled the voyage of these migrant vessels and the ineptitude or nonchalant stance of the government officials. This I feel would have far more reaching potential and persuasion power over the common voter. The whole charade of attempting to stop boats in dangerous ways is incredibly foolish.
